MATCH

We are so excited Tuesday we signed our "match agreement". Our little girl is due to arrive July 10th. We are praying God gives our birth mom peace and protects her and the baby over the next few weeks.

With this exciting news our life has gone to full speed, and we can no longer hold fundraisers, so if anyone feels led to donate we would really appreciate it. God has been faithful in providing for our needs and we trust that he will provide again.

The Ball is Rolling

Last night, dear friends watched our children for a few hours while Kim and I went to Starbucks. Not for date night, though any alone time IS a date, but instead we worked on our portfolio (a scrap book sharing with the mother about our family) and met with Kandi, the owner of Abba Adoption. We signed paperwork making it all official, paid our first third of the agency fees, and went over the next steps in our journey.

Thank God for all he has given us. As Kim posted the other day through generosity and unexpected income we have gone from zero to our first payment in a few weeks.

Our next phase includes home studies, background checks, and a lot more praying and praising.

Tears of Joy

I write this still feeling so blessed by how God is moving in our lives. A month ago Jimmy and I sat and wondered where all the money for this adoption is going to come from. So far God has showed us he is in control. It started after a very eventful day of rushing around town to gather things for a friend's wedding and taking the kids to a swim lesson. I got the mail. Normally this is very uneventful, the best I can hope for is a few coupons to add to my collection. Not this day. In our mail box I found an envelope from a company that I have not worked for in almost 2 years. With a note that they had officially taken me off payroll and with that my ESOP (stock in the company) had to be sold and a payout made. I opened the envelope and as I read the amount on the check tears began to fall. I can only wonder now what the money would have been used for two years ago, probably new baby items, instead of the second hand things we bought. Two years later our baby beds are still used and work great, all I can say is God has perfect timing.

Other strange things have happened too. We are a long way from having all of our funds but it is a blessing to see God work through people.

To our Family and Friends

We are writing this letter to share some very exciting news.... we are adopting! Our hearts are filled with love for our children, but we know that our family is not complete. We feel that God has chosen our family to bring 1 of the 145 million orphans home, to their forever family. We are seeking a domestic adoption through a local Arkansas agency, Abba Adoption.

Many people know our story, but let us share how God has worked in our family. We always felt the desire to adopt, even in conversations before we were married, but we did not know when. Our journey to grow our family has not been an easy one. Sam and Maggie were given to us through a great blessing.

Infertility was tough; week after week we would hear “No, not this round,” at that time we decided to adopt. But on the eve of our first meeting with Abba Adoption we received wonderful news; our “final” treatment at the fertility clinic had been successful. Needless to say we have been blessed with our twins Sam and Maggie, and we still can’t believe that God chose us to be their parents.

Abba is a Christian adoption agency that works with local birthmothers to place their child into a loving home. Domestic adoption is the right choice for our family for two reasons; we will have the opportunity to have a relationship with our child's birthmother, and we can keep our birth order. We are open to who God might have for our family, therefore we have not specified a gender or race.

The main questions asked are When and How Much. All adoptions vary in time, anywhere from three months to three years. We’d like to adopt as soon as we can, but that is where the second question comes in, How Much. We are estimating our adoption to cost around $30,000. At this time we are personally saving as much as we can every month, and planning fundraisers. What we need more than anything right now is your prayer, love and support.

This letter is written to simply announce to those we love our intentions. We want to share this amazing journey with everyone that is special to our family. So we have set up a blog to share updates along the way, give opportunities to help, prayer requests, and to collect donations.

FIRST BLOG EVER

Well this is my first post. As I dip my toes into the blogging world, I wonder how this will take shape. We stand on the brink of beginning our first adoption and our 14 month old twins are ruling the roost. But life seems to be moving forward, and every day my kids do something new. I am amazed that God chose Jimmy and I to parent two amazing people. They came together but couldn't be more different. They are perfect complements.

Our journey has had many turns and lots of sadness, lots of joys, and has grown me more than I could have ever imagined. I plan to share past and present so that my kids will know my heart and how good God is to his sheep.
